Book Magic will revise your raw manuscript paragraph by paragraph and page by page. We start with a manuscript evaluation, a comprehensive critique that examines content and structure. For nonfiction, we assess organization, flow, clarity, redundancy, and references; for fiction, we examine characterization, background, dialogue, and significant themes, and ensure strong introductions and conclusions. We focus carefully on the message you want to convey, which we determine through a series of phone, Skype, or Zoom conversations. Then, we deliver a high-level manuscript evaluation with a report indicating precisely what we plan to change in your manuscript and why. We outline book chapters and themes. You review this report with us before we move to the next stage, and we gather your input at every step.
Then, we painstakingly rewrite your first draft until you have a fantastic book. Book Magic will perform advanced copyediting during the rewriting process and verify all facts, including movie and book references. We involve you in every step of the process so that the book reflects your voice, message, and purpose. If we have questions—and we certainly will—we will discuss them with you via phone or email. (Of course, if you live locally, we would happily meet with you in person.)
Once you are satisfied with your heavily edited and rewritten draft, we will complete a basic proofread, which we outsource to a separate professional to provide a second set of eyes on your project. The Professional Rewriting Package is the Cadillac option for people with a raw draft that needs significant work before it becomes a publishable book. Professional Rewriting is as close to ghostwriting as you can get, but it is considerably less expensive, and your work is much more likely to sound like your own rather than ours because you have provided us with all the basics. We are revising, not writing from scratch. As a result, your rough draft becomes a polished, highly marketable product. And everyone will assume you wrote it unless you tell them otherwise.
